Plant Fertilisers

Liquid Fertiliser

If water quality is good, aquatic plants should not initially require feeding, but like any other plant, they can start to look untidy and become weakened over time.

EcoPond - Our Enviromentally friendly option

Remove any dead leaves to prevent them from sinking to the pond bottom and use a good plant food such as Aquatic Plant Food "Plus" (details in our AquaHydrotech/Eco Pond Range) to encourage healthy and vibrant growth. Aquatic Plant Food Plus also contains extract of barley straw to prevent algae growth, giving a double benefit.

Aquatic Plant Food Plus is a much more complex product than most Aquatic fertiliser, which contains a wide range of micro-nutrients rather than relying simply on the standard Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium (N:P:K) formulations which make up the typical fertiliser stick. Because of it’s formulation, Aquatic Plant Food Plus has the dual advantage of having significantly less potential to stimulate the growth of algae than fertiliser sticks, In the event that algae should grow, the extract of barley straw would control this growth.

Tablet Fertiliser

Traditional methods of direct to the root fertiliser for demand feeders like Iris, Lotus, Tropical and Hardy water lilies have may options.  When investigating products we settled on an aquatic tablet fertiliser specifically blended for pond plants.  These tablets are manufactured by a company dedicated to producing fertilisers for water grown plants.  When used as directed the fertiliser will stimulate vigorous growth, budding and flowering, disease resistance and are not toxic to aquatic animals including fish. Glenbogal Aquatic has trailed these tablets over the last couple of years, we were so happy with the product we put our brand on them.

Tablet fertilisers require a soil base to release nutrients into.  Tablet fertilisers should not be introduced directly into your pond.  Adding directly to the pond water may cause nutrient unbalance and algae, with possible ill health to pond life.
